Senior Jason Russo of the Temple men's gymnastics team was the named the 2008-09 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men's At-Large Performer of the Year - highlighting several recent exceptional academic achievements by both the men's and women's gymnastics teams. Senior John Vogtman was also selected to the All-Area men's team, while senior Natasha Crawford and junior Danielle Viens were selected to the women's All-Area team.
Sophomore Katie Canning capped off one of the greatest individual seasons in Temple women's gymnastics history, as she captured first place in the all-around, first place on vault (9.825) and tied for second on floor, (9.800) earning first-team All-America honors at the USGA Championships over the weekend from the University of Southern Connecticut. Katie Canning of the women's gymnastics team has qualified for the NCAA Regionals in the all-around, the NCAA gymnastics selection committee announced on Tuesday. Canning is the first Temple gymnast to qualify for regionals since Lexi Zafferes competed in the vault regional in 2005. Read More >
Women's gymnastics head coach Aaron Murphy and senior Nikki Berrian were both honored by the ECAC conference, as Murphy was named Coach of the Year and Berrian named the Specialist of the Year, the conference announced over the weekend. Read More >
