Box Score

PHILADELPHIA - After a scoreless first half, Richmond netted two late goals to give the Spiders their first win of the season, a 2-1 victory over the visiting Temple Owls on Sunday afternoon. Elena Hekimian notched the equalizer in the 81st minute, but the Temple defense could not hold off a late tally by the Spiders' Jen Ruhe. The Owls fall to 3-8-0, 2-0 in A-10 play, while the Spiders improve to 1-8-2 overall and 1-1 in Conference play.

Both teams had various opportunities to score in the first half, but neither could find the back of the net.

Richmond broke the stalemate in the 73rd minute of action as Nora Mann received a pass from the other side of the box from Ruhe and knocked it to the left of TU goalie Liz Tarasevich.

The Owls responded with the equalizer less than eight minutes later as Kersha Walker chipped the ball from the left side to teammate Elena Hekimian who then headed the ball past the Richmond keeper.

Just over two minutes later, Richmond took a 2-1 advantage as Ruhe received the ball from Anne Hazel and beat her defender down the left sideline for her first collegiate goal and the game-winner.

Richmond's Kate Hudson registered six saves in goal for the Spiders, while Tarasevich recorded four saves throughout the contest for Temple.

Temple returns to action on Friday, October 6 when it travels to Saint Joseph's for a match-up with the Hawks at 7 p.m.
