PHILADELPHIA--The Temple University women's soccer team (5-5, 0-1 A-10) fell to the Saint Joseph's Hawks 2-1 this afternoon, September 27, 2002.
The Hawks were on the board early when Katie Watson scored her first goal of the season in the second minute of the season after catching a pass from teammate Michelle Carmosky and fired the ball past Owls goalie Jackie Mauro. Saint Joe's second goal came in the 32nd minute of the period one when Nancy Cook chipped the ball over Mauro's head.
The Owls answered back with a goal of their own in the second period on a breakaway run by freshman Samantha Vietry to put Temple on the board. Unfortunatly, Temple's offense couldn't find the back of the net again to tie the game.
Mauro played all ninety minutes in goal and posted one save.
Temple returns home next weekend to face the Fordham Rams on October 4, 2002. Game time is 3:00 p.m.
