Philadelphia (October 26) -- Temple University women's soccer players Brandi Wright (Olathe, Kan./Olathe North) and Courtney Woytowicz (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Moreland) were named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively, by the Atlantic 10 Conference, today.
Wright, a sophomore forward, scored all three goals for the Owls in a 3-0 shutout of Duquesne on Oct. 24. Duquesne, ranked fourth in the Atlantic 10, had allowed just three goals in the previous five games. The Olathe, Kan. native leads the Owls in goals (8), points (18) and game-winning goals (3).
Woytowicz, a freshman goalkeeper, recorded back-to-back shutouts against St. Bonaventure (0-0) on Oct. 22 and Duquesne (3-0) on Oct. 24. Against St. Bonaventure, Woytowicz made nine saves in 120 minutes of play. The Willow Grove, Pa. native made seven saves to preserve a 3-0 shutout of Duquesne. The two shutouts were the first of her career.
