The Temple University softball team (6-9) opened play at the University of South Florida on Tuesday, March 11 with a doubleheader against Ball State and Wagner College. In the first game, the Owls were edged by Ball State, three to one. They responded to that loss by defeating Wagner by a score of three to two. Liz Naughton earned the win for Temple, improving her record to two and two in pitching the complete game.
On Wednesday, the Owls played an early game against Canisius College and improved their performance at the plate, defeating the Golden Griffins, seven to two. Katherine White earned the victory, pitching the first five innings of the contest. Kim Watkins pitched the final two innings in preserving the win for the Owls.
Temple closed the day with an evening game against the twenty-second ranked, host USF Bulls. The Bulls defeated the Owls six to one, sending them home with a two and two record at the tournament.
The Owls will travel back to Plant City on Friday, March 14, for a three o'clock contest with Penn State. They are also scheduled for a nightcap at seven o'clock against Bethune-Cookman College.
