The Temple Owls find themselves in the midst of a race for an Atlantic 10 playoff spot after sweeping their double header with Virginia Tech this weekend. The Owls are locked in a tie for fourth place with St. Bonaventure in the Conference. The top four teams advance to the Conference Tournament. The Owls have cancelled non-conference games with Rutgers and Princeton this week. They will finish out their home slate against St. Joseph's on Saturday, April 29 in a pivotal A-10 doubleheader. In the first game against the Hokies, the Owls scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth and held on for the 2-0 victory. fielder choice hits by Katie Spencer and Holly Mahal drove in Bari Lynn Pfleuger and Chrissy Pearson. Pflueger went the distance for the win striking out three. With two on in the top of the seventh, she struck out one Hokie for the second out and got the assist on the final putout. In the second game, Kendra Navaro's single in the bottom of the ninth drove in Andrea Horton for the game winner, 1-0. Nanci Lima got the victory after going all nine innings. She pitched out of a bases loaded jam in the second inning and fanned three batters overall.
