MONROEVILLE, PA - The Temple women's tennis team defeated the ninth-seed Rhode Island Rams on Friday at the Club 4 Life in Monroeville, Pa. on their way to capturing their first Atlantic 10 title since 2003. The first-seed Owls, now 15-3, advance to the semifinals where they will face the winner of the #4 Massachusetts/#5 Xavier match on Saturday, April 21 at 1:00 p.m.

The Owls won two doubles matches to clinch the doubles point. At number two doubles, Radka Ferancova and Dina Senkina won their sixth-straight match with an 8-3 victory over Val Chacon and Nyssa Peele. At number three doubles, Sharanya Pattabi and Anastasiia Rukavyshnykova defeated Amanda Barletta and Stef Catanzano, 8-1.

Temple won three singles matches, all in straight sets, at the No. 2, 4 and 6 spots. Dina Senkina beat Val Chacon at second singles, 6-2, 6-0, while Anastasiia Rukavyshnykova blanked Grace Hedstrom, 6-0, 6-0 at the fourth spot. Felicia Frazier won her tenth match of the season at the sixth position, defeating Whitney Squires, 6-0, 6-0.
