Cole Breaks School Record At Gotham Cup :: Junior was one of three Owls to win their event

NEW YORK, NY - Junior Amanda Cole broke her own school record in the weight throw (52-2 1/2) and was one of three Owls to win their event at the Gotham Cup at the New York City Armory on Friday. Freshman Paris Williams won the 500m (1:15.24) and the 4x400 relay of junior Carlleen Allison, senior Cheryl Anscombe, freshman Shadaya Bennett and Williams won its event in an ECAC-qualifying time of 3:52.10.

Sophomore Brittney McRae was third in the 60m hurdles (8.89) and fourth in the long jump (18-3). Both were season-bests for McRae.

The Owls had two top 10 finishers in the 400m with season-best times--Allison was fourth (57.36) and Anscombe placed seventh (59.03).

Senior Noelle McKenzie was 10th in the 1000m (3:02.43) and 11th in the 800m (2:24.26). Junior Devon DuPont finished seventh in the 60m hurdles (9.17) and 21st in the high jump (4-11).

Cole placed ninth in the shot put (38-5) in addition to her performance in the weight throw.

Temple will travel back to the Armory on Friday for the Great Dane Classic. Dupont will head to the Bucknell Open to compete in the heptathlon.
