Blacksburg, Va. (May 6-7) -- Temple women's 4*100 relay team set a new conference standard of 46.80 this past weekend at the Atlantic 10 Championships. The Owls went on to finish fourth at the event, which was hosted by Virginia Tech. Members of the 4*100 relay team, Naomi Beverly, Teresa Covert, Dionna Miller and Afia Brown, were named to the All-Conference team. Afia Brown was also named to the All-Conference team for her first place finishes in the 100 and 200 meter dash. Teresa Covert and Naomi Beverly also recorded finishes in the 200 meter dash. Covert finished fifth with a time of 25.48 and Beverly finished ninth with a time of 25.80. In the 400 meter dash, Kasha Craig ran to a seventh place finish with a time of 58.80. Chanel Dale placed eighth with a time of 59.06 and Patricia Swiggett finished ninth with a time of 59.42. Dale also placed sixth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:09.91. In the women's long jump, Covert and Dionna Miller tied for fourth place with a mark of 5.36m 17'07.00. Miller also finished sixth in the triple jump with a mark of 10.82m 35'06.00. Edith Lewis placed fifth in the triple jump (11.11m 36'05.50). Ursula Moorer finished sixth in the high jump with a mark of 1.49m 4'10.50. Moorer also recorded an eleventh place finish in the shot put (9.00m 29'06.50). Melanie Crumbia finished sixth in the hammer throw with a mark of 38.97m 127'10.00. Temple's 4*400 meter relay team ran to a third place finish with a time of 3:53.56. The Owls finished eighth in the 4*800 meter relay with a time of 10:28.09. Marirose Roach threw to a fourth place finish in the javelin throw with a mark of 38.18m 125'03.00. In the discus throw, Melanie Crumbia finished twelfth with a mark of 30.33m 99'06.00.
