Ryan Long began his role as strategic communications director in February 2025. He currently serves as the primary contact for the Owls' men's basketball and field hockey teams.
Prior to Temple, Long spent four years as the coordinator of athletic communications at East Stroudsburg University.
At ESU, Long oversaw all communications, media relations, social media, graphic design, marketing and video streaming for 22 Warrior teams. Under his direction, ESU’s social media accounts and ESUWarriors.com grew into some of the most followed and engaged platforms in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference and NCAA Division II.
Before leading the athletic communications office at ESU, Long served as an assistant director of media relations at Duquesne University from 2019-21 and as an assistant director of athletic communications at the University of Maine from 2017-19.
At Duquesne, Long was the primary contact for the women’s basketball, women’s soccer, women’s volleyball, and men’s and women’s tennis teams. He served as the media coordinator for the 2019 NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship, held at PPG Paints Arena.
At Maine, Long served as the secondary contact for the school’s Football Championship Subdivision semifinal team in 2018. He was the primary contact for men’s basketball, baseball and field hockey, and he received a Fred Stabley Sr. Award from CoSIDA for best athlete profile in District 1, which includes New England and five Canadian provinces.
He began his postgraduate career as a media relations intern at Villanova during the 2016-17 academic year.
A native of the Poconos, Long earned his bachelor’s degree in sport media from Ithaca College in 2016. He resides in Lansdale with his wife, Brenna, son, Bennett, and their dog, Nola.
