Justin Miller joined the Temple University Athletics staff as the Director of the Resnick Academic Support Center for Student-Athletes in September 2010 and was promoted to Executive Senior Associate Athletics Director/Chief of Staff in August 2022.

Miller is responsible for providing leadership for the Resnick Center staff, which consists of eight academic advisors, three learning specialists, a coordinator for leadership and professional development, and over 90 tutors. Reporting to the Office of the Senior Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, Assessment and Institutional Research, the goal of the Resnick Center is to provide comprehensive support services to all student-athletes from enrollment through their professional lives after Temple.

Under Miller’s leadership, Temple’s student-athletes experienced tremendous academic success, combining for over a 3.0 GPA for 21 consecutive semesters, including 15 of last 21 terms greater than 3.1.  In addition to grade point averages, graduation rates climbed significantly since Miller’s arrival to North Philadelphia, with Temple’s overall Graduation Success Rate (GSR) increasing from a 70 in 2009 to 93 in 2021.  

With an established culture of earned academic success, Miller began working to enhance the professional development of Temple’s student-athletes in 2015.  Building on strong collaborations with university partners and alumni, student-athletes were introduced to programming and resources aimed their enhancing their career readiness.  This new investment led to the creation of Temple’s first Coordinator of Leadership & Professional Development in 2018.  In addition to providing innovative and outcome-driven programming, this position worked closely with Miller to develop and facilitate the Stanley Merves Leadership Academy, Temple Athletics’ first student-athlete leadership curriculum.

Miller came to Temple from the University of South Florida, where he served as the Assistant Athletic Director for Academics & Student-Athlete Development since 2005.

In his previous role, Miller was responsible for overseeing the academic support services for USF's student-athletes, as well as the day-to-day operations of the Academic Enrichment Center (AEC). Under his leadership, USF’s Athletics Department cumulative grade point average was over 3.0 for two consecutive academic years – the first time in the USF history.

A native of Buffalo, N.Y., Miller attended Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pa. Upon completion of his undergraduate degree in 2001, he worked with the National Consortium for Academics and Sports in Orlando, Fla., and subsequently enrolled in the DeVos Sport Business Management Program at the University of Central Florida where he completed his Master of Business Administration and Master of Sport Business Management in 2004.

While completing his graduate degrees, Miller served as the Research Coordinator for the 2004-05 Racial Gender Report Card and worked with the National Football League's Players' Association in Washington, D.C. Miller has also worked with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Cleveland Cavaliers and Emmanuel College in Boston, Mass.

Miller lives in Haddonfield, NJ with his wife Mary and their sons, Wesley and Cash.
