PHILADELPHIA – Former Temple University great Mark Karcher was inducted into the Inaugural Class of the Baltimore Catholic League Hall of Fame. Karcher was among 14 former BCL standouts honored at a dinner held at the Rolling Road Country Club in Catonsville, Md. on May 19.

Karcher, who played at Baltimore's St. Francis Academy ('97), is the one of only two players to be named Catholic League tournament MVP in three consecutive years, and is the league's only four-time all-tourney selection. He also led the Panthers to tournament championships in 1995, '96 and '97.

He later went on to a standout career at Temple, leading the Owls in scoring in each of his two seasons with program. As a sophomore, he earned A-10 Rookie of the Year accolades while averaging 13.4 points and 5.8 rebounds in a season that was capped by an appearance in the NCAA Elite 8. A 1999 A-10 All-Tournament selection, he averaged 12.3 points in the Owls' four NCAA games, scoring 19 in the team's regional final loss to Duke.

As a junior, Karcher increased his scoring output with a team-best 15.8 average in leading Temple to a 27-6 record. Along the way he earned first team All-Atlantic 10 Conference, All-Big 5 and All-District honors. He left school following his junior season to enter the NBA Draft, where he was selected with the 19th pick of the second round by the Philadelphia 76ers.

He spent the majority of his professional playing career overseas, playing in France for Evreaux in the French ProB League. He currently is serving as the head coach of his alma mater, St. Francis.
