Eleven national TV broadcasts give Owls maximum exposure
PHILADELPHIA - A minimum of 14 television appearances, including 11 national broadcasts, highlight the 2011-12 Temple University men's basketball schedule released today. The Owls will play a minimum of eight games on ESPN entities and nine of their 16 league games will be televised. It is the second straight season Temple has had as many as 10 regular season national telecasts.
The Owls play a minimum of eight games on ESPN entities starting with the Puerto Rico Tip-Off opening round game against Western Michigan on November 17 (10:30 a.m.). That game will be televised by ESPNU. Temple could add two more ESPN games depending on its play in the tourney. If Temple defeats Western Michigan, the Owls' second game (Nov. 18), against either Purdue or Iona, will be televised on ESPNU. Three of the four tournament games on November 20 will be televised on either ESPN2 or ESPNU.
Temple's remaining ESPN entity games include: Dec. 10 – Villanova (ESPN2); Dec. 17 – at Texas (ESPN2); Jan. 4 – Duke (ESPN2); Jan. 21 – Maryland (ESPNU); Feb. 4 – at Rhode Island (ESPN/ESPN2); Feb. 11 – Xavier (ESPN2); Feb. 25 – at Saint Joseph's (ESPNU).
The Owls also have three nationally-televised games on the CBS Sports Network: at Saint Louis (Jan. 11); at Richmond (Jan. 14); and at St. Bonaventure (Feb. 15).
Three of Temple's A-10 games will be CBS College Sports Network regional telecasts, starting with the Owls' conference opener against Dayton on January 7. The remaining CBS SN regional games include home games against George Washington (Feb. 8) and Duquesne Feb. 18).
Temple, who advanced to the third round of the 2011 NCAA Tournament, returns four starters from last year's squad that ended the season 26-8.
