Khalif Wyatt Named A10/Big 5 Player of the Week

PHILADELPHIA – Temple University senior guard Khalif Wyatt has been named Atlantic 10 and Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week, for the week ending March 10. The Norristown, Pa. native (Norristown HS) shares the A10 honor with Charlotte's Pierra Henry, marking the fourth time he has won the award.  He earned his sixth Big 5 honor of the season outright.

Wyatt, the Atlantic 10 Conference's leading scorer (19.9 ppg.), averaged 24.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.5 steals in a 2-0 week. At Fordham (3/6), he recorded his first career double-double, scoring a game-high 19 points and grabbing a game and career high 11 rebounds in the Owls' 74-55 win.  He also dished a team-high four assists in the win. In an 84-76 win over #19/21 VCU (3/10), he led all scorers with 30 points – his fifth 30-pt game of the season. He also grabbed four rebounds, dished four assists and made a game-high four steals.

For the year, Wyatt has been Temple's high scorer 19 times, including 14 of the last 17 game.  He has been red-hot of late, averaging 23.4 points over last 17 outings.  He just passed Rick Brunson (1,493 pts, '91-95) to move into 16th place on the Owls' all-time scoring list with 1,495 points. In the VCU win he became the 12th Temple player to score 600 points in a season.

Temple (23-8, 11-5 A10) travels to Brooklyn, NY for the Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament.  The Owls, seeded third, will play the winner of Thursday's first round game between #6-UMass and #11-George Washington in the quarterfinals Friday night.
