Things to Look for in Week 9...

1
Trick or Treat
Temple takes the field on Halloween for the 15th time in program history. The Owls are 2-9-3 on October 31, with wins against Holy Cross in 1936 and Navy in 2009. Temple last played on Halloween in 2020 against Tulane.
2
The Big-Play King
Ajani Sheppard enters the week tied for second in the NCAA lead among quarterbacks with four completed passes of 60+ yards. His four touchdown passes of 50-plus yards are the most by a Temple quarterback since P.J. Walker in 2016.
3
Clarke of the Records
Peter Clarke became Temple's all-time leader in receiving touchdowns by a tight end with his 11th career score against Charlotte, breaking a tie with Randy Grossman (1970-73). Clarke also posted a career-high 127 receiving yards against the 49ers, the most by a Temple tight end in a game dating back to 1970.
4
Mason's Building Blocks
Sophomore Keveun Mason has 513 rushing yards in 2026 and 680 in his Temple career, putting him 320 yards away from 1,000. He would become the first Owl since Re'Mahn Davis to reach 1,000 career rushing yards within his first two seasons at Temple.
5
A Familiar Footprint
Temple's last win at East Carolina was a 27-17 victory in 2019, powered by freshman Re'Mahn Davis' 157 rushing yards and a touchdown. The Owls rushed for 237 yards and totaled 490 yards of offense that day.
6
Pressure on the Pirates
East Carolina has allowed 19 sacks and committed 13 turnovers through seven games. Temple recorded a sack and multiple tackles for loss against Charlotte and will look to pressure the Pirates on Saturday.
  • Temple has rushed for at least 100 yards in all seven games this season, including five games of 200-plus, and is averaging 202.1 rushing yards per game.
  • Keveun Mason enters with 680 career rushing yards, 320 shy of becoming the 34th Temple player since 1970 to reach 1,000.
  • East Carolina leads the all-time series 13-9, but Temple is 5-5 in Greenville. The Pirates have won the last five meetings.
  • ECU has committed 13 turnovers (six interceptions and seven lost fumbles) and allowed 19 sacks through seven games.

Keveun Mason opened Temple's scoring with a 21-yard touchdown run, and Ajani Sheppard added a seven-yard rushing score to give the Owls a 14-7 halftime lead. Charlotte moved ahead in the third quarter, but Sheppard tied the game with a 44-yard touchdown run. Peter Clarke caught a four-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 28 and set Temple's career receiving touchdown record for tight ends with 11. Charlotte scored 10 unanswered points before Carl Hardin's late field goal trimmed the deficit to seven. The 49ers recovered the ensuing onside kick to seal the result.
